Al Suhaily, in Amman, Looks for ICVA’s Support for the Localization of Humanitarian Action in Yemen
Mr. Hussein Al Suhaily, Chairman of Tamdeen Youth Foundation, Coordinator of the Humanitarian Action Localization Initiative in Yemen, met today with the regional representative of the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) Ms. Iman Ismail in TYF’s regional office in Amman, Jordon. They discussed the humanitarian action localization initiative in Yemen, launched by Tamdeen last year, and the Council's support for local organizations and the promotion of their capacities to increase the effectiveness of humanitarian response and to achieve the development priorities of local communities, based on the triple nexus (humanitarian response, development cooperation and peace-building).
At the meeting, Al Suhaily praised the Council's success in promoting principled humanitarian action, making it more effective through collective and independent action, and networking local organizations with UN agencies, international and regional organizations and governments.
The regional representative of ICVA praised the role played by local organizations in Yemen in meeting humanitarian needs and supporting the most vulnerable and war and conflict affected groups. She pointed out that the localization was unanimously needed to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of humanitarian action in Yemen, confirming ICVA's support for the localization initiative and the building of effective enabling partnerships with the donor community.
She also stressed the commitment of donors and UN and international organizations to localize the humanitarian assistance enshrined in the "Grand Bargain" and the "Charter for Change", and to recognize the positive role played by civil society in Yemen.
It should be noted that TYF joined ICVA in 2019 as the first Yemeni organization
