To combat dengue fever and vectors … Rehabilitation of sewage network in Hawk Directorate in Hodeidah

Tamdeen Youth Foundation is responding with a package of rapid and long-term water, sanitation and hygiene interventions in a number of areas in Yemen. In Hodeidah governorate, in partnership with the local water and sanitation institution, the Yemen Integrated Humanitarian Fund (YHF) project in Al Hawk, Mokha, and Dhobab districts is implementing its Emergency Integrated Assistance Project.
Cleaning of the sewerage network, removal of blockages in manholes, and disposal of sewage rash, the largest foci of the spread of dengue fever and disease-transmitting viruses in Al Hawk continue. During the period from 6 to 25 November, the work and maintenance teams were able to clean and rehabilitate 254 main drainage manholes, 603 sub-manholes in the Lower Al Hawk, Dahimiyah and parts of Kawkaban lane, and lifting 68 tons of waste in the network and manholes, which were accumulated due to the collapse of the sewage system. The lack of resources of the local institution due to the war and the turmoil in Hodeidah.
Tamdeen’s project officer in Al Hawk / Khaldoun Al-Hawa explained that: The project teams will continue their work in partnership with the local water and sanitation establishment in Kawkaban, Al Hawk ,Al-Ulaya and Indians neighborhoods during the next three weeks.
