"ERRYIII" Supports Restoration of Community Assets in Lawdar, Abyan through Cash for Work

Under Supporting Resilient Livelihoods, Food Security, and Climate Adaptation in Yemen, Joint Programme, (ERRYlll) ERRYJP3, co-funded by the European Union and the Government of Sweden, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through Tamdeen Youth Foundation, is working to restore community assets, social services, and agricultural infrastructure in Lawdar and Ahwar districts, Abyan governorate, through the cash for work activities.

70 young men are making a protection barrier and a fort to protect Al Kial Village, Lawdar, from floods that pose a danger to 3,000 residents, especially in the summer rainy season, where people are unable to pass the rainwater stream and go to the market to buy their food needs.

In Al Jawf area, Lawdar, 82 young men were employed to rehabilitate a water cannel to improve water efficiency in irrigation of 20,000 agricultural acres for 400 farmers in Al Jawf and surrounding villages, thus improving farmers' livelihoods and food production.
