Rehabilitation of Farzat Al Nashama Street in Al Ma’afer District, Taiz
Today, Thursday, Tamdeen Youth Foundation launched the rehabilitation of Farzat Al Nashama Street in Al Ma'afer District, Taiz Governorate. The launch was in the presence of the Director General of Al Ma'afer District/ Adel Al Mushamir, the Secretary-General of the Local Council/ Mohammed Ali Farea, the Director of Tamdeen Youth Foundation, Taiz, Dr. Ibrahim Al Musalami, the District's Works and Traffic Offices Managers, the Project Coordinator/ Mohammed Rashad Saif, and a number of social figures and sub-districts coordinators.
This comes as a part of "ERRY 3" project, which is being implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP Yemen), through Tamdeen Youth Foundation. It includes the rehabilitation of Farzat Al Nashama Street with concrete and curbstones, which will contribute to reducing congestion, traffic jams and accidents in the area, as the street is a vital link between Al Ma'afer District and all areas of Taiz, the Coast and Lahj.
The project also includes the rehabilitation of the Sports Hall and Al Shorouq Club Stadium in As Sanah, Al Ma'afer district, and the implementation of many other initiatives that provided job opportunities for 400 young men and women using "cash for work", as well as training, qualifying and empowering them through financial grants to start their own SMEs.
The ERRY3JP is part of the EU and UNDP efforts to help Yemen withstand the humanitarian crisis.
The project, to which the local authority of Al Ma'afer district has contributed 10 million YER, aims to improve livelihoods and peacebuilding in rural areas by providing infrastructure and basic services, supporting youth and women, and enhancing community participation in development.
