Aden: A Joint Delegation From SDC and SIDA Visits TYF and Meets Representatives of Several Local Organizations
Today, Saturday, a joint delegation from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), headed by Anna Guittet, Regional Programme Manager for Yemen, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), headed by Nadine Andrea Jaeggi, Programme Officer for Yemen, and Fadi Al Mua'qat, Programme Officer for Yemen at the Embassy of Switzerland in Amman, visited Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF) in Aden.
Mr. Nashwan Al Qubati, Director of Tamdeen Youth Foundation, welcomed the delegation and expressed his pleasure and gratitude for the visit. He gave a presentation on TYF's programs and projects focusing on youth and women empowerment, local development and climate action. He also looked forward to strengthening cooperation and partnership with the two international agencies to support sustainable development.
The delegation also met with representatives of a number of local organizations in Yemen, and discussed with them the Localization of Humanitarian Action Initiative in Yemen, led by Tamdeen Youth Foundation, the challenges facing local organizations, and mechanisms to support the transition from humanitarian work to development.
The participants in the meeting "virtually" agreed after discussion and interventions that raising the efficiency of the humanitarian response will only be possible by recognizing the role played by local organizations, adopting a participatory planning approach, and reaching fair and equitable partnerships with UN and international organizations and donors.
Anna Guittet, Regional Programme Manager for Yemen, expressed her great pleasure at this meeting to understand the challenges facing the humanitarian response in Yemen.
"Through cooperation with local actors, we can help people rebuild their lives better."
For her part, Nadine Andrea Jaeggi, Programme Officer for Yemen, affirmed the Agency's commitment to working with local actors in Yemen towards sustainable development.
The meeting concluded with the importance of the donor community's support for the Localization of Humanitarian Action Initiative in Yemen, and the adoption of participatory planning and coordination among civil society, the private sector and government agencies in accordance with a more efficient and locally led humanitarian response model.
