Distribution of 9,100 School Bags to Enhance Access to Basic Education in 37 Schools in Marib

In support of the #BackToSchool campaign and to encourage the enrollment of more children in education in #Yemen — with a particular focus on girls, internally displaced children, children with disabilities, and the most marginalized and impoverished groupsTamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF), with support from Education Cannot Wait (ECW) and in coordination with the Ministry of Education and its office in Marib Governorate, distributed 9,100 school bags with essential supplies to students in 37 basic education schools across the districts of Marib Al-Wadi, Marib City, and Harib, benefitting 4,156 boys and 4,944 girls, in line with the approved criteria for early grade students.

This support is part of the interventions under the project “Project:" Emergency Response to Displacement and Climate-Induced Crises in Yemen – First Emergency Response (FER).”

Each school bag includes notebooks, pencils, a drawing book and colored pencils, as well as a ruler, eraser, sharpener, and a water bottle. These essential items help sustain the learning process and reduce the financial burden on families, thereby enabling children to continue their education with dignity.

Providing school bags and supplies is a key step to ensuring children’s right to quality education amid the immense challenges they face in Yemen, where the protracted humanitarian crisis and the impacts of climate change continue to prevent hundreds of thousands of children from accessing schools.

In such circumstances, education is not only a fundamental right, but also a protection tool, a source of hope, and a pathway to rebuilding communities and achieving a more stable future.
