Recreation and Hygiene Kits to Enhance a Safe Learning Environment for Over 33,000 Students in Marib
To enhance the educational environment and child protection in the face of climate crises and displacement, Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF), with support from Education Cannot Wait (ECW) and in coordination with the Ministry of Education and its office in Marib Governorate, launched the distribution of 70 recreation kits for children in preschool and basic education, as well as specialized recreation kits for secondary school students. This initiative covers the districts of Marib Al-Wadi, Marib City, and Harib, benefiting more than 33,600 students.
The kits contain various recreational activity tools, such as basketballs, volleyballs, whistles, drawing and coloring books, board games, footballs, and jump ropes, aimed at strengthening the psychosocial support for children amidst the conditions of displacement and climate crises.
Additionally, 51 hygiene kits were distributed to 51 schools across the three districts as part of efforts to promote general hygiene practices (WASH) and ensure a healthy and safe learning environment.
This intervention is part of the project "Emergency Response Interventions for Displacement and Climate Change-Induced Crises in Yemen (FER) 2025-2026," which aims to link education with protection and psychosocial support, particularly in areas experiencing high displacement density and pressure on basic services.
Through this initiative, we emphasize that education must not stop, even in the most difficult circumstances. Providing a safe and healthy learning environment for children is an investment in the future of Yemen.
