Conclusion of Early Childhood Education Activities in 43 Schools in Marib Governorate
Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF) concluded the activities of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program for the pre-primary stage, which was implemented in 43 targeted schools in Marib Governorate, specifically in the districts of (Marib City – Al-Wadi – Harib). The program was supported by the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) fund as part of the "Emergency Response to Displacement and Climate Crises in Yemen" project, targeting children affected by displacement and humanitarian crises resulting from war and climate change.
The implementation of the program is considered a qualitative step as it contributed to introducing early childhood education into public schools for the first time in Marib Governorate. This initiative aimed to fill an educational gap that for years had deprived thousands of children of learning opportunities in their early years, especially the most vulnerable and displacement-affected children.
A total of 1,381 boys and 1,393 girls benefited from the program. The ECE classes provided a safe and nurturing learning environment, helping children learn, grow, and acquire basic skills during early childhood, thereby enhancing their educational opportunities and granting them a more stable and hopeful beginning.
Throughout the implementation period, Tamdeen Youth Foundation was keen on providing educational spaces for children affected by displacement and crises that addressed their psychological and educational needs. This was achieved through play-based and interactive learning methodologies, contributing to building their personalities and enhancing their self-confidence.
Education Officer Ali Ahmed Al-Qabati emphasized: "Early childhood education represents the cornerstone for building children's futures. Investing in this stage contributes to creating a generation that is more capable of learning, adapting, and participating positively in society."
Furthermore, school administrations and parents expressed their appreciation for the project’s role in supporting the educational process and providing early childhood education opportunities in the targeted communities, praising the positive impact reflected in the development of children's skills, behaviors, and self-confidence.
The implementation of these activities falls within the efforts of the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) fund to provide gender-equitable education in early childhood.
