A public festival to stimulate environmental awareness in As Silw in Taiz
Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF) organized today, Monday, a public awareness festival on the occasion of ” World Environment Day” and under the slogan “Defeat Air Pollution.
The festival, which was hosted by Qabela hamlet in As Silw district in Taiz city, included art shows, folk songs and awareness sections.
The Director of As Silw district / Abduljalil Gharsan delivered a speech in which he praised the active role of Tamdeen Foundation in alleviating the humanitarian crisis, especially in Taiz city. He wished the Foundation and its partners to continue humanitarian interventions to help the population in the district and to stand by them until it was declared free of contagious diseases.
In turn, the representative of Tamdeen Youth Foundation at the festival/ Abdul Ghani Al-Haddad praised the public attendance at the festival and the interaction of the population with the activities of the foundation. He said: “Our goal and our partners’ in Care international goal of this festival is to promote environmental awareness as the best way to protect the population and the environment. He also pointed out that the quality of the water we drink, the food we eat, and the air we breathe depends on environmental protection.
Subsequently, Bushra Al-Sulaihy delivered the speech of community and emphasized about the complementarity between humanitarian interventions and beneficiaries to promote community participation and capacity-building in confronting crisis and managing their projects successfully.
Samar Al Khatib also delivered the speech of volunteers, in which she expressed her appreciation to Tamdeen Youth Foundation and confirmed the foundation’s implementation of its projects and programs in partnership with the people and allowed young men and women to volunteer and build their capacities in humanitarian work.
The festival is part of the ECHOIII project activities implemented by Tamdeen Youth Foundation in partnership with CARE, to help displaced persons and host communities in the fields of health and environment in the districts of ( Jabal Habashy, Al Ma’afer, Al Mawasit, Sama, As Silw and Al Wazi’iyah) in Taiz city.
