Food assistance and health supplies to prevent cholera
Since food safety is linked to safe water and its clean sources, and to achieve an integrated response supported by the World Food Program (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO), Today, Tuesday, Tamdeen Youth Foundation launched the distribution of food ration of September cycle (2020) to 14,570 families in Al Mesrakh district in Taiz governorate. These families were provided with oral rehydration solutions and water treatment tablets ( Chlorine), and 74 volunteers at all distribution points made them aware of good practices regarding safe water, good hygiene and cooking, and how to identify signs of cholera and how to protect themselves from the disease.
Yemen has experienced the largest outbreak of the acute watery diarrhea /cholera in the world, and the population remains at risk of infection due to poor water, and communities, especially in rural areas, resort to drinking rainwater and open ponds.
