Modern irrigation systems and agricultural seeds to improve food security for rural families
For sustainable agricultural development in the countryside, Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF) distributed today (Sunday) modern agricultural inputs that include (drip irrigation networks and tanks with their equipment) as well as seeds of (tomatoes, beans, and peppers) for 20 male and female farmers in Al Ma’afer district, Taiz governorate. This is a part of the project of (Smallholders productivity restoration and enhancement in Yemen – Horticulture and FFS subcomponents), which is being implemented by the foundation in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
This comes after the completion of training courses in the modern agricultural inputs for 100 male and female farmers in the district during the past weeks, and the preparation of 20 field areas, to begin the process of installation of field schools, and cultivation according to the land and climatic conditions, in order to achieve double production and high quality, improve the standard of living of farmers and their families, promote the expansion of the introduction of modern agricultural techniques that reduce water depletion and irrigation costs, and provide opportunities for the cultivation of new crops.
