Tamdeen Youth Foundation wins the election of the Climate Action Network in the Arab World (CANAW).
TYF has won the election of CANAW, and will represent Yemen for one year.
Arwa Al-Hemyari, of TYF, was selected in free and fair elections, in which six candidates from different Arab countries participated.
Along with Arwa, Sami Hussein Al Mabrouk from Libya, and Jenna Telg from Lebanon won too.
Accordingly, the three new winners will be added to the current four members of the governing body, to be seven members (three females and four males).
The participation of TYF in these elections is the result of its interest in addressing the challenges of climate change and in protecting the environment. Among its contributions in this area is its implementation of various projects in Yemen, such as clean and renewable (solar) water projects and sanitation projects.
CANAW is network of non-governmental organizations working on climate change throughout the Arab world. It is composed of independent members.
The Network aims to support CSOs to influence formal structures and institutions to develop effective strategies in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change, promote climate action in its various forms, and ensure its implementation at the regional, national and local levels while promoting the principles of equity and sustainable development.
