Today, the Coordinator of the Humanitarian Action Localization Initiative, Chairman of Tamdeen Youth Foundation, Mr. Hussein Al Suhaily, met with the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (SCMCHA), Mr. Abdul Mohsen Tawoos. During the meeting, they discussed the Humanitarian Action Localization initiative, launched by Tamdeen along with other 89 local CSOs, and its impact on the improvement of the humanitarian situation in Yemen. They also discussed the development of a new mechanism to improve the humanitarian response, enhancement of Yemeniization of humanitarian action, and align the humanitarian response with the economic recovery.

The Secretary-General welcomed the initiative and confirmed his support for it and the role of national CSOs, praising the role played by local organizations in intensive efforts to alleviate the suffering of people through their humanitarian interventions in various sectors.

It was agreed to work towards a strategic plan for the humanitarian action localization and the improvement of the humanitarian response mechanisms which will be agreed on by civil society, the government, the private sector, UN, donors, and international agencies and organizations.
