Al Suhaily Meets with Aden’s Central Bank Governor and Discusses the Efforts of Civil Society to Coordinate Fiscal Policies and Economic Recovery Program
Chairman of Tamdeen Youth Foundation, Coordinator of the Humanitarian Action Localization Initiative in Yemen, Coordinator of the National Program for Economic Recovery and Development Mr. Hussein Al Suhaily, met with Aden’s Central Bank Governor Mr. Ahmed Ghalib and discussed with him the efforts of local organizations to bring all parties together to coordinate fiscal and monetary policies, thereby enabling the Central Bank to put an end to the economic collapse, to restore value to the national currency, and to implement its basic operations and services in a way that maintains the stability of the national economy across the country.
TYF’s Chairman presented a summary of the National Program for Economic Recovery and Development and the coordination meetings held and to be held with a number of stakeholders in Sana'a and Aden to prepare for the launch of a National Strategy for the program that aims to move from relief and emergency assistance to economic empowerment and sustainable local development.
At the meeting, Al-Suhaily emphasized the need to reflect the true partnership of the public and private sectors with civil society organizations, the role of the central bank and financial institutions in adopting policies of financial inclusion and social responsibility, and integration with local organizations to implement development projects that meet the needs of local communities and provide them with sustainable sources of income. He also called for guiding banks and banking institutions to expand financial inclusion and to activate and develop microfinance programs to support cooperatives, small producers, innovative and entrepreneurial projects for youth, women and graduates of professional and technical institutes and community colleges.
The Governor of the Bank welcomed the initiative of TYF and stressed the importance of partnership with civil society in alleviating the economic suffering of the Yemeni people.
