For preventing from Cholera: Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF) distributes 376 hygiene kits in Al-Mawasat district, Taiz
Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF) on Wednesday distributed hygiene kits to 376 families in Al-Mawasat district, Taiz governorate within the multi-sectoral assistance project to save the displaced and host communities (ECHOIII) implemented by the Foundation in partnership with CARE International in six districts in Taiz, in order to ensure access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation to the population to maintain the cleanliness of environment and expand the effective response to cholera epidemic. ECHOIII Project Officer Eng. Ahmad Al-Buhayri explained that the distribution of hygiene kits is part of the project’s objectives in the prevention of cholera and infectious diseases, which is currently the top priority of the project. He added that the field teams of the project and the volunteers are continuing their efforts to raise awareness among local communities about the dangers of cholera epidemic, how to prevent it by correct methods, the importance of hygiene in the protection against infectious diseases, and knowledge enhancement of how to deal with cases, prevent disease and risk indicators for diarrhea. The project is also intensifying the distribution of public awareness guidelines on how to prevent cholera through the use of water from safe sources, the treatment of stored water in homes, and maintaining a high level of personal hygiene and cleanliness of the surrounding environment.
