Al Suhaily Discusses Partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Aden to Achieve Economic Recovery
Mr. Hussien Al Suhaily, Chairman of Tamdeen Youth, Coordinator of the Humanitarian Action Localization Initiative in Yemen, met today with Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Salem Al Wali and Under-Secretary, Ali Saleh Atef.
He discussed with them preparations for the economic recovery phases and TYF's efforts to form an effective alliance between CSOs, the Government and the private sector to launch a comprehensive recovery and development program.
At the meeting, Al Suhaily emphasized the Ministry's central role during the next phase in creating an environment conducive to the development of trade, attracting investment, supporting national industry and exports, through comprehensive industrial survey, updating the industrial chart, lists of industrial investment opportunities, protecting local production, working to increase the competitiveness of national industry, opening markets to Yemeni goods and products and supporting value chains.
He also pointed out TYF's keenness to build an active partnership with the Ministry in developing joint mechanisms for financing SMEs and business incubators, and to train women and youth in particular, so as to help them start their own enterprises and businesses.
For his part, the Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade praised the initiative of TYF to promote partnerships between the Government, the private sector and CSOs, and to support the direction and role of the Ministry in promoting industry and trade, raising the growth rate and improving the economic and living realities of citizens.
He emphasized that the Ministry has encouraging incentives for the private sector to play its role in increasing production and investment, reconstruction and economic recovery, and reaching a genuine partnership with it, by preparing studies of promising industrial projects and making them available to investors; and networking with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Investment Authority, Economic Sectors and CSOs to set up a development strategy to promote national industries and develop economic infrastructure.
In turn, the Under-Secretary emphasized the role of CSOs in integrating with the Industry and Trade to support women and youth in establishing their enterprises, engaging them in the labor market and increasing their income, by developing their business, professional and technical skills for the benefit of them and their communities. The two meetings were attended by Dr. Ali Al Buraihi, a member of TYF’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Tammam Al Hitari, TYF’s Program Manager, Mr. Nashwan Al Qubati, TYF’s Economic Empowerment Program Director, and Ms. Bushra Abdullah, TYF’s MEAL Officer.
