Today, Mr. Hussein Al Suhaily, Chairman of Tamdeen Youth Foundation, Coordinator of the Humanitarian Action Localization Initiative in Yemen, and Coordinator of the National Economic Recovery Program, met with Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Eng. Abdul Malik Naji, and discussed building partnerships with CSOs and sustaining humanitarian interventions.
At the meeting, Al Suhaily stressed the support of CSOs for the Ministry's efforts to rehabilitate the infrastructure of the agricultural sector and to address the consequences of floods, torrential disasters, and climate changes in recent years, as well as the integration in promoting agricultural production and increasing its contribution to economic recovery.
He noted the need for partnership between the Government, CSOs, and the private sector to develop Yemen’s fisheries sector, based on scientific research and international best practices, as agriculture is the promising wealth of economic renaissance and food security.
For his part, the Under-Secretary welcomed the efforts of CSOs to contribute to the reconstruction of the economy and the rehabilitation of infrastructure. He stressed the need for the Ministry to be involved in planning and setting priorities, based on the results of the field survey and statistical information on agricultural and fish production, and that urgent humanitarian intervention should be linked to sustainable economic reform.
He noted the directives of H.E the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries on the need to coordinate and communicate with organizations working in the agricultural and fisheries sector, and to correct the course for local and international organizations to work in full coordination with the Ministry.
