Tamdeen Youth  Foundation Appeals to Government and Donors to Support the Recovery of Local Transport Corporation

 

Tamdeen Youth Foundation appealed to the Government, donors, brotherly and friendly countries to support the Local Transport Corporation to recover, and operate and maintain its bus fleet and workshops, enabling it to serve citizens to move between governorates at prices commensurate with their living conditions, contribute to economic growth, and achieve the objectives of the recovery and reconstruction process.

 

This was during the visit of TYF's Program Director, Dr. Tammam Al Hetari, and its Economic Empowerment Program Manager, Mr. Nashwan Al Qubati, to the Local Transport Corporation in Aden, and their meeting with its Director General, Eng. Abdul Bari Al Harbi, from which they listened a detailed explanation of the status and performance of the Corporation, the number of buses ready to operate, the Corporation's maintenance workshops, and the requirements to restart them.

 

At the meeting, Al Harbi praised the role played by TYF in restoring the role of national institutions and supporting the Government's efforts to achieve its development goals and promote society.

 

He noted that the Corporation started operating transport lines in Aden and a number of governorates to serve citizens, at lower prices than the private sector and better quality of services. It is also seeking to restructure its assets, expand its investment projects, create a new fleet and new stops, and restore the workshops and provide them with modern machinery and equipment; and this needs to join hands with everyone in this aspect.

 

In turn, Al Hetari and Al Qubati confirmed the willingness of TYF to cooperate with the Transport Corporation in achieving its objectives by surveying its current status and needs, partnering in planning, and preparing a project proposal for its development, as well as contributing to the mobilization of funding for its implementation and the advancement of the Corporation.

 

The meeting was attended by The Transport Corporation's Technical Director/ Murad Salem Ali, its Oversight and Inspection Director/ Ali Hassan, its Liaison Manager/ Saber Shabira, its Movement Director/ Ali Mohammed Nasser, its Director of the Office of the Director General Salem Ghraib; and by TYF's Technical Advisor, Mr, Ahmed Saeed Al Wahsh, its Liaison Officer, Dr. Nadin Abdulkadir, and its MEAL Officer, Ms. Bushra Abdullah.
