Aden: Minister of Electricity and Energy Receives Tamdeen Youth Foundation’s Team and Discusses Recovery Priorities With Him
Today in his office in Aden, H.E. the Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Anwar Kalshat Al Mahri, received TYF's team, Coordinator of the Economic Recovery Initiative, chaired by Mr. Nashwan Al Qubati, with whom he discussed challenges in the electricity sector, recovery priorities and reforms that CSOs can contribute to their implementing, and mobilize efforts to get support and finance for projects in the electricity sector in accordance with the urgent needs and priorities of the Ministry.
He stated that the problem of electricity is not from the present time, but accumulated for many years, affected by the events in Yemen and exacerbated the suffering, and said," the government and the leadership of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy have no choice but to meet these major challenges, and work faster to implement urgent solutions with the arrival of the summer."
He stressed the importance of joining all efforts and harnessing all possibilities to improve services, alleviate the suffering of citizens, and find solutions that improve the electricity service needed by all, which is the backbone of life in this era.
In turn, Mr. Nashwan Al Qubati expressed his pleasure with this meeting and his appreciation to H.E. the Minister, for his great interest in TYF's initiative, and the involvement of civil society organizations with the Ministry's directions in implementing its plans to restore the services of the electricity sector, and attracting funding and investments of the private sector in renewable energy, such as solar, wind, geothermal or gas-powered energy.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Ahmed Saeed Al Wahsh and Mr. Faiz No'man, TYF's Consultants, Dr. Nadin Abdulkader, TYF's Liaison Officer, and Bushra Abdullah, TYF's MEAL Officer.
