Tamdeen Youth Calls for Private Sector Involvement in Improving Electricity Services and Investing in Renewable Energy 


During the meeting of its Economic Empowerment Program Manager, Mr. Nashwan Al Qubati, with the Director of Al Haswa Power Station, Mr. Nawfal Mujamel, Tamdeen Youth Foundation called on the government to adopt a realistic and scientific recovery plan for the rehabilitation of electricity infrastructure and the involvement of the private sector in power generation and distribution in accordance with governance, transparency and competition practices.

 

 

It also called for funding to rehabilitate the Station, and increase its production capacity, thereby reducing the deficit and the hours of power outages.

 

 

With Nawfal, Al Qubati discussed the challenges and difficulties facing the Station, the possibility of TYF and CSOs contribute to the needs assessment, promotion of capacity of the staff and technicians, mobilization of resources to rehabilitate the Station's infrastructure and restore its actual capacity; in context of TYF's economic recovery initiative, and the activation of the role of the productive and service sectors to drive development and alleviate the suffering of citizens.

 

 

Eng. Nawfal welcomed TYF's Initiative, and emphasized integration with it in assessing needs and preparing a plan for developing the performance of the Station with sustainable solutions.

 

 

This meeting was attended by Ms. Bushra Abdullah, TYF's MEAL Officer, and its Liasion Coordinator, Mr. Faiz Noaman.
