“We Want to Study in a Safe and Wonderful School without War”, Said the Children of Al Wehda Milat School in Taiz

In response to the humanitarian appeal by (Twins), after the photos documented by the photographer Al Baraa Mansour, and the scenes reported by the BBC network about the suffering of more than 500 children receiving education among the ruins of Al Wahda Milat School in Jabal Habashi district, Taiz governorate, that was devastated by the war in Yemen, Twins, through Tamdeen Youth Foundation, was able to provide Al Wahda School with a set of school desks and school supplies to strengthen their resilience, alleviate their suffering and give them hope for their right to education.

After years of sitting on pebbles, dirt and crumbling and cold tiles, the school children were delighted as they received school bags and sat on wooden desks.

However, the lives of children and teachers who insist on continuing education under sloping ceilings and dilapidated pillars are still at risk.

Mrs. Jamila Al Wafi, Head-mistress of the school, thanked Twins and Tamdeen Foundations for what they provided to the school. She appealed to (the government, international organizations and charitable institutions to save the children in Al Wahda School, build new classrooms and restore what can be repaired, as the students are threatened by the fall of the rubble above their heads).

While the school children's dreams of the future have multiplied, their dream today is only that "We want to study in a safe and wonderful school without war and without siege so that we can achieve the rest of our dreams."

Both Foundations, Twins and TYF, share these children's vision for a peaceful future throughout Yemen, and will do more to help them achieve their dreams, because they are entitled to a good education and a better future, and this war must end.

It should be noted that this assistance comes within the framework of Twins Yemen Project, which will include the twinning between Al Wahda Milat School in Jabal Habashi and Heathfield British School, and the implementation of a package of different activities that contribute to the enhancement of the educational environment.
