Training of 75 Young Women, Including Cancer Survivors, on Entrepreneurship in Aden Governorate

 

With a view to enabling women to enter the labor market and facilitating their access to income-generating private projects, Tamdeen Youth Foundation, within its Women's Economic Empowerment Project in Yemen, funded by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), has trained 75 young women on Entrepreneurship in Aden governorate, including those with disabilities and cancer survivors.

 

The training included life and professional skills for business management, promotion of trainees' employment opportunities and their productive participation in economic and local recovery and livelihoods activities to improve well-being and resilience.

 

Mr. Nashwan Al Qubati, TYF's Director, with Mr. Elias Khan, GIZ Advisor of the Private Sector Development and Employment Opportunities Project, and Mr. Ahmed Al Suwaidi, the Project Manager, honored the trainees, and expressed their confidence in their ability to transform the knowledge and skills gained from training into successful start-up projects and businesses.

 

Mr. Al Qubati also thanked the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor for its active role in the successful implementation of the project and for providing continuous support and facilities to civil society organizations.

 

He stressed that Tamdeen Foundation implements youth and women's empowerment projects with a holistic approach that goes beyond the traditional prospective by providing the national economy with innovative youth projects according to the needs of the local market to make long-term impacts on the level of helping youth access sustainable sources of income and promoting a culture of entrepreneurship to contribute to economic recovery and development.

 

Al Qubati appealed to local and international organizations and the private sector to shift from a relief-based approach to socio-economic empowerment projects to ensure positive and profound impacts on communities' development, and achieve sustainable economic recovery.
