Training Program for 125 Women in Sana’a in Entrepreneurship and Small Enterprises

The first phase of the Women' Economic Empowerment Project, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and in partnership with Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF), was concluded yesterday in Sana'a.

This project aims to create income opportunities for 125 women by developing their capacities and skills, developing business plans for small businesses, and providing financial grants to trainees to establish their enterprises and find a permanent and sustainable source of income for them and their families.

The first phase included a training program in entrepreneurship, financial education and life skills. Trainees were also divided into groups to ensure they had the maximum possible understanding and application.

During six days of training for each group, the trainees learned how to prepare an effective feasibility study for a small business, as well as how to prepare business plans, budgets, reports, analysis, marketing, and purchase strategies commensurate with the project's size and growth.

Chairman of Tamdeen Youth Foundation, Eng. Badr Addin Al Fahad, together with TYF's Director of Operations, Mr. Raed Nasher, and GIZ's Representative, Ms. Liqa Abdullah, honored the trainees.

TYF's Chairman expressed his pleasure with the level of interaction and will of the trainees to change their reality, stressing that each of them deserves a better life.

Eng. Al Fahad praised the effective and productive partnership with GIZ, explaining that Tamdeen focuses on creating new mechanisms of action and thinking that expand the concept of "Humanitarian Response" to include economic empowerment, contributing to supporting emerging projects, and creating sustainable livelihoods.

Ms. Liqa Abdullah, Representative of GIZ, sees the project as a great opportunity for those who have been selected and met the criteria to move towards a better life, and make a positive impact for them, their families and their community.

"I am very confident that today you are 125 trainees, and in the near future you will be 125 success stories."
