IRC Team Briefed on Emergency Flood Response Project in Taiz
Today, a team from the International Rescue Committee (IRC), led by Emergency Coordinator Megan Heroyer, visited Taiz to see the progress of the Flood Emergency Response Project implemented by Tamdeen Youth Foundation TYF, in partnership with the International Rescue Committee IRC in Al Mudhaffar and Salh districts, and funded by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office ECHO.
The IRC Emergency Coordinator and team members met with the project coordinator Dr. Thi Yazan Al Hakimi, and the project team. They also listened to residents in Al Haraziya area, Salh district, and in Al Arbaeen and Al Jarajer areas, Al Mudhaffar district, about the extent of the damage caused by the recent floods in these areas.
They were briefed on how much solid waste the project was able to lift from water outlets and roads, and how it contributed to restoring normalcy in the affected areas, improving the health and safety of the population, and reducing the spread of diseases and epidemics.
The IRC team expressed its satisfaction with the project's successes, and confirmed support for the implementation of the sewage network in Al Haraziya area, Salah district, and for the successful completion of the project.
The team was accompanied by TYF's Director of Taiz Office, Dr. Ibrahim Al Musalami, and Director General of Salh District, Eng. Aref Al Yousefi, along with the Director General of the Public Works and Roads Office, and the Director of the Executive Unit for IDPs.
