After ten years of cessation, the "Supporting Institutional Frameworks and Local Mechanisms for Resolving Land Disputes and Promoting Social Cohesion Project" succeeds in resolving the dispute on Al Thawbani Stadium in Al Mashaleha sub-district in Mokha District, restoring the football league, and enabling children and youth to have their right to sport. 

The project, which was implemented by Tamdeen Youth Foundation in the West Cast and funded by Josoor Program, formed a local peace committee that brought together the parties to the conflict and succeeded in stopping the skirmishes on the stadium, which lasted four years, to extend the bridges of peace and make everyone to participate in leveling the ground of the stadium and fencing it, closing the new road, and transferring water pipes from its ground.

Yesterday, Wednesday, Al Thawbani Stadium hosted the final of Al Mashaleha League, in which eight sports teams competed, and Al Saqr team was crowned champion of the league after beating its rival Al Yarmouk team with two goals for nothing.

Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Local Council, Sheikh Abdullah Al Seraji, handed over the championship cup to Al Saqr team, amid a large public presence, and the presence of the local authority and members of Al Menna Sports Club.

Mr. Mohammed Shali, Consultant to the Local Peace Committees in Mokha District, explained that this success is an addition to the successes achieved by the project, which implemented other peace initiatives in Hays and Al Khawkha districts. It also succeeded in removing the random construction from Hays Historic Castle campus, fencing a health unit in Al Qadi neighborhood, and completing the construction of classrooms at Khadija School for Girls.

Shali emphasized the need for local communities to raise awareness of the importance of dialogue as an ideal means of resolving conflicts, investing energies and resources in development and living in peace.
