Launch of the First Phase of (ERRY 3) Project in Ahwar District, Abyan Governorate

Cash_for_Work is not just cash wages and work skills, but it is, in ERRY III Programme, behavioral development that promotes an individual's sense of responsibility and self-reliance, and motivates communities to take the lead in the recovery process from the ongoing crisis in Yemen.

 

Today, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF), launched in Ahwar District, Abyan Governorate, the first phase of "Supporting Resilient Livelihoods, Food Security, and Climate Adaptation in Yemen, Joint Programme, ERRYJP3, co-funded by the European Union and the Government of Sweden.

 

The first phase, which will be implemented through cash-for-work, includes the rehabilitation of the women's market in the district center, the removal of Sesbania trees from the rainwater drainage streams in Hanad area, as well as the removal of creeping sand from the official line of Hanad and Al Masani areas linking the villages and the market in Ahwar district. 

 

The launch was attended by the Director General of the District, Mr. Ahmed Al Awlaki, the Director of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office, Eng. Ali Darwish, and a number of social figures.

 

Mr. Motleq Gharsan, Project Officer, Arslan Hadi, Project Field Assistant, and Eng. Ali Al Shaqa, all valued the interaction of local authority, executive offices and communities, and their great keenness on the success of the project aimed at restoring community assets and supporting livelihoods, thereby contributing to enhancing food security and adapting to environmental and climate challenges.
