Training of Community Health and Nutrition Volunteers in Maqbanah, Taiz Governorate
A five-day training course for Community Health and Nutrition Volunteers, organized by Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF), in cooperation with the Public Health and Population Office in the governorate, was concluded in Maqbanah district, Taiz governorate. This is part of "Multi-Sectoral Response Project of Food Security, Health, Nutrition, and Education for the Affected Population", implemented by TYF in the district, with the support of Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF).
The course aimed to qualify 33 community health volunteers for early detection of diseases, epidemic threats, malnutrition cases, and complications of pregnancy and childbirth, and to contribute to promoting health awareness.
Promoting Health and Nutrition Awareness:
Dr. Fadel Al Qubati, Deputy Director General of the Public Health and Population Office in the governorate, stressed the importance of the role that volunteers will play in improving the lives of thousands of mothers and children living in hard-to-reach areas, through awareness-raising on basic health and nutrition care, in addition to assessing the condition of children with examination and measurements, after which malnourished cases are transferred to health centers for care.
Steps Towards a Healthier Society:
For his part, Dr. Abdullah Al Haidari, Manager of the Nutrition Department in the governorate, stressed the importance of qualifying and training the district's cadres and volunteers to advance the health sector, praising the efforts of TYF in this field.
Transforming Knowledge into Reality:
Eng. Majed Al Sharai, Project Manager at Tamdeen Youth Foundation, urged the trainees to transform the knowledge and skills they have acquired in reality by spreading community awareness. He stressed the importance of child care, proper nutrition for newborns, and healthy practices to prevent diseases.
