Handover of Al-Shaheed Mohammed Hamra School After Rehabilitation and Furnishing in Maqbanah, Taiz

The local authority has received Al-Shaheed Mohammed Hamra School in Hajdah, Maqbanah District, Taiz Governorate, after its rehabilitation and furnishing were completed through the Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen (SIERY) project, implemented by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in cooperation with Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF) and funded by European Union.

The project included equipping 12 classrooms, in addition to administrative offices, laboratories, an activity hall, and 7 restrooms, including a dedicated restroom and ramp for people with disabilities, along with the installation of an electrical network.

This school was one of the most prominent educational institutions in the area. However, the conflict led to the suspension of its completion and negatively impacted the educational process. Therefore, the local authorities prioritized its rehabilitation to meet community needs and ensure children's right to education.

The school principal, Mr. Ali Abdulrahman Al-Alimi, stated:
"Today, the school is ready to accommodate 744 students in a safe and stimulating educational environment after successfully equipping the classrooms, facilities, water and sanitation systems, and providing the necessary furniture".

He also expressed his gratitude to the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme, and Tamdeen Youth Foundation for their significant support to the local community in rehabilitating and equipping the school with the latest educational resources.
