In partnership with UNFPA in Yemen, Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF) is launching a campaign against gender-based violence.
To promote partnership between men and women, and in coordination with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Yemen, Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF) launched today (Thursday) the campaign against “gender-based violence”. Under the slogan “You complete her … She completes you.”
After the launch, which was in orange color, the participants in the campaign stressed the importance of raising awareness about the rights of Yemeni women, bringing them to the world and supporting their issues in all forums.
The chairman of Tamdeen Youth Foundation Hussein Al-Suhaily pointed out that “women in Yemen are at the top of the list of victims of violence, whether through direct injuries from war or other effects they suffer indirectly”. “Women who survived direct bombardment and death in Yemen bear the greatest burden of family responsibility and community support, and suffer psychological, economic and social damages, which makes it necessary for all human rights defenders to stand beside Yemeni women and to take due attention to their forgotten problems,” he said.
Dr. Nguiba al-Mahdi, the executive director of Tamdeen Youth Foundation said, “To stop violence against women in Yemen and to stop targeting them in the ongoing war will include the most important step to protect society and make peace, since women are the most capable of creating balanced stability at the family and community level,”
“Women are not just partners in promoting the stability of society, but they are better able to push for peace and make the desired positive change.” Al Mahdi said.
The campaign will be implemented over 16 days of awareness sessions and activities among displaced persons and host communities in Ibb and Al Dhalea governorates.
