Tamdeen Youth Makes Peace in Jabal Habashi and Revives Cooperative Societies in Its Own Way
In the midst of societal disputes that have reached the point of freezing lifelines, and amid the accumulation of divisions that have prompted their owners to stand against their interests, not for anything but because they, like any Yemeni, are stubborn, and consider the waiver a defeat; in that high geographical area, where the language of dialogue dried up, and peace was cut off before road projects were stopped, the language of reconciliation and tolerance had to be revived and the spirit of peace spread, since this society is naturally tolerant. It loves life and loves others.
In many areas of Jabal Habashi district, Taiz governorate, residents are no longer forced to cross rugged roads and dangerous mountain areas. After resuming the reconstruction of several roads in the district, time of ambulance of patients and weddings through arduous roads has passed. Everyone can have his/her needs and transport them by modern transportation instead of donkeys and camels. And for the first time, vehicles, of all kinds, can reach various and far-flung areas, thus disappearing the specter of suffering forever.
With funding from the Josoor Program, Tamdeen Youth Foundation has successfully ended many community conflicts that have prevented the activation of these development projects by setting up community committees and meetings to rebuild peace among the society. TYF, with these efforts, links community cohesion to development and peace. As a result, many projects and activities were implemented, namely, paving Al Shurouj Road in Al Shuraja, paving Al Mehdar Jannas Road in Bani Essa, paving Tha’ab Road in Al Marateba, constructing and expanding Al Medhafa Road in Bani Bukary, and rehabilitating Ain Al Kasr water project. These projects, completed in a short period of six months, represent only one of several aspects of this story.
The other aspect of this success is the financial participation of the community. The amount of the "Community Frameworks Make Peace" project, allocated for the implementation of all these projects, is only $ 35,000, but the community contributions, which TYF has worked to promote and mobilize, have brought the value of the project to approximately $ 115 thousand.
The most important aspect of this project is the practical contribution of the community. Those who do not have the money have not lost the decision and have not remained idle in this community mobility. Every one of them has contributed to the physical work that he/she is good at, so that everyone with his/her efforts makes a success story sculpted in the geography of Jabal Habashi District.
The story isn't completed. In the "Community Frameworks Make Peace" project, success stories converge within a single story, showing the brighter side of it through women's participation in money and work. The women in this project have been very helpful to men in the community contribution. He carries bricks and she makes breakfast. He paves the road and she plants bushes, ending together the siege of the mountains. This has made it easier to connect forgotten communities to public roads and to ensure that people have access to life-saving relief assistance, basic services and job opportunities.
