UNICHR Delegation Briefed on Projects Implemented by Tamdeen Youth Foundation in Ibb Governorate

 

Today, Deputy Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Yemen/ Eraj Imomberdiev, and Senior Shelter Cluster Coordination Officer -/John Wain, visited Tamdeen Youth Foundation's office in Ibb governorate. They discussed with the Director of the office, Eng/Badraddin Al Fahad, the achievements of the shelter and CCCM project implemented by the Foundation with funding from UNHCR,
as well as implementation and field challenges and humanitarian needs.


They also visited the Foundation's implementation location of the UNCHR-funded "Transitional Shelter in Cold Regions". It is an innovative model of appropriate design that preserves the dignity of displaced persons and protects them from climate variability, therby enabling them to live a life closer to normal life.

Subsequently, the UNHCR delegation visited one of the QIPs (quick-impact projects) in Al Dhihar district, Pedestrian bridge, a bridge that was the fifth UNCHR-funded project implemented by the Foundation at the end of 2012.

 

The bridge contributes to promoting the protection of IDPs and the host community near of Sa'ailat Ma'een during the rainy season.

 

The delegation concluded its visit by visiting Sa'ailat Qahza IDP hosting site in Al Dhihar district. It's one of the IDPs' hosting sites that TYF oversees interventions and humanitarian services, listens to the IDPs' needs and measures the satisfaction with the services provided to them.

 

UNHCR officials praised the positive and fruitful partnership with TYF in meeting the needs of IDPs in accordance with the Partnership's Global Humanitarian Platform.

 

They also praised the efforts of TYF's team to enable UNHCR to provide protection, shelter and non-food items to displaced persons from conflict-affected areas, as well as the quality and effectiveness of the quick-impact projects implemented by the Foundation during the past year to serve IDPs and the host community, and TYF's effective presence at the level of coordination, follow-up and implementation within the CCCM activities.

 

During the visit, the delegation was accompanied by Sub National Shelter Coordinator - Ibb hub, Eng/ Alezz Abdulsalam, and Sub-national CCCM Coordinator - Ibb hub, Mr. Mohammed Al Kenani.
