Oficial and Community Mobilization Campaign for the Restoration and Protection of Hays Historic Castle in Al Hudaydah

 

With official and community participation, the team of "Supporting Institutional Frameworks and Local Mechanisms for Resolving Land Disputes and Promoting Social Cohesion Project", implemented by Tamdeen Youth Foundation in the West Coast, with funding from Josoor Program, launched a community mobilization campaign to contribute to the restoration and protection of Hays Historic Castle in Al Hudaydah Governorate.

 

 

 

The campaign was co-launched by Director General of Hays, Tahir Al Qadi, General Director of Police, Brigadier General Najib Waraq, Director of the Archaeology Office, AbdulJabbar Bajel, Director of the Education Office, Ahmed Bakri, Lands Manager, Ahmed Abdo Shubail, and Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee, Mohammed Humaidan, Director of Art House Fadl Al Wuhaidi, Sheikh Said Abadel, Community Commissions Consultants Jwayer Halisi, Bakeel Al Nahari, Hussam Al Nadheef, a number of lawyers and legal trustees, and a large group of residents. The campaign began with the marking of the castle's boundary in preparation for rebuilding its wall.

 

 

 

Lawyer Ali Mukarsheb, Coordinator of the project and the campaign, saluted the interaction of the Director-General of Hays, Directors of Executive Offices, Representatives of the Local, Security and Judicial Authorities, Sheikhs and Notables, and the people of Hays with the campaign, which reflected a great awareness of the importance of cultural heritage as a catalyst for economic development, and a powerful tool to promote understanding and social cohesion, acceptance of diversity, and building bridges of peace with humanity.

 

 

 

He confirmed that Hays Histroic Castle is a unique heritage, a historic legacy that extends to the Apostolic State of the Seventh Century. It has been subjected to tampering and neglect. So, it is time to repair and invest it as a tourist and cultural landmark.

 

 

 

"The project focused on organizing community members, directing their energies to participate in and contribute to building and development, strengthening relationships between its components and segments, as well as spreading the culture of socioeconomic and cultural rights, providing legal assistance and building community capacities for civic leadership."

 

 

 

Director of the Archaeology Office, Abduljalil Bajel, expressed gratitude for Jossor Program and Tamdeen for this initiative.
